Rossendales welcomes the long awaited publication by the Ministry of Justice today of its consultation paper ‘Transforming bailiff action’. We hope that the consultation process signals the imminent introduction of new regulations under the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007. These are long overdue and necessary to address the antiquated processes that have been imposed upon our industry by centuries of case law and ad-hoc regulations from successive governments.

On Friday 3rd February 2012, MP Jake Berry opened the new catering facilities at enforcement & debt collection firm Rossendales, which will be managed and staffed with students and personnel from Accrington & Rossendale College.

Nationally

• 4 million - the total number of cases issued to bailiffs per year in respect of all debt types.
• £1bn - the debt value issued to bailiffs in 2008-09, enough to pay for 30,000 newly-qualified NHS nurses and 20,000 new police recruits.
• £2.5bn - the amount of unpaid council tax recorded between 2003-2010.
• 2.97million - summonses issued 2009-10 in respect of local taxation.
• 1.4 million - council tax Liability Orders issued to bailiffs last year.
• £35 - the additional amount added to every council tax bill to subsidise those that do not pay.
• £650m - the amount collected by bailiffs in 2008-09 in respect of fines and taxes for central and local government.
• 1 - the percentage of cases nationally where goods are actually removed by bailiffs.

For the second year running employees from Rossendales are hitting the pavement from May 19 with more than 125,000 other employees as part of the world’s largest health and wellbeing initiative, the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC). Encouraging employees to be involved in the GCC assists in improving the overall health, wellbeing, morale and energy levels of their workforce.

Rossendales are proud to announce that our Customer Services Director, Dave Chapman IRRV (hons) was elected by the IRRV Council as its Junior Vice President for 2010/11 at the round of Council meetings last week. With normal progression this could mean that Dave will be the National President of the Institute in 2012. Dave was the President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Association in 2004  has been an elected member of the Council since 2005 and is currently the Chair of both the Local Taxation and Revenues Faculty Board and the Law and Research Committee.

70 members of Rossendales staff including Managers and Directors are putting their best foot forward to take part in the 2010 ‘Get the World Moving’ walking challenge!

Rossendales were well represented  at the IRRV National Conference at the Bournemouth International Centre from the 29^th September 2009 to the 2^nd October 2009 this year and our new stand was in prime position, featuring a very popular hoopla game, which to all who visited looked quite simple, however the best score achieved over the whole 4 days was 5 out of 8!!!

Due to  continued  success for our clients and our expanding client base, Rossendales has outgrown our previious premises at Hardman Mill and after much thought and consideration have moved to Wavell House, in Helmshore, Rossendale. There were many contributing factors to the relocation and most pressing of all was the need for space, and desire to find a headquarters large enough to accommodate our current and planned needs. It will provide the amenities that our visitors and staff deserve as Wavell House has almost double the floor space of Hardman Mill, the relocation will be vital to the future of the Rossendales group of companies as we expand and prosper.

Rossendales beat off competition from almost 900 of some of Lancashire’s top performing companies to land two awards at the 2009 BIBAS (Be Inspired Business Awards) – a celebration of Lancashire’s leading businesses and entrepreneurs.
